WHAT I DO IN REQUIEM OF THE HUMAN SOUL

Well, I guess I’m what they call the “hero.” Seems pretty ridiculous… me a “hero”, I mean.

It’s not what I wanted. I was perfectly happy being a 10th grade History teacher in Tuckers Corner. As happy as you can be, that is, when you’ve lost the woman you loved to ovarian cancer, and your only daughter is thousands of miles away.

Still, the folks around me in Tuckers Corner were great. They were my friends. Now, I’m in this PEPS session, and I’ve got everyone telling me that whatever I decide to do will affect the future of the human race.

I dunno. It’s too much for me. What the hell am I supposed to do???

REAL LIFE FACTS

Widowed. One beautiful daughter, married and living in Wales. Schoolteacher. I'm lonely, but I love teaching my kids.
